I apologize for missing last week's Monday Music post! Things have been kind of crazy around here, so I'm setting up a new queue for the summer months.
I hope everyone is finding plenty of writing time now that the warm weather is coming, at least in the northern hemisphere! I'm currently planning another YA dark fantasy. I'm hoping it will have the same tone and feel to it as The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski and Uprooted by Naomi Novik. This WIP has been in my head for ages, and its plot has changed more times than I can recall, but it feels so, so good to finally be nailing its plot, characters, and world down.
Sometimes WIPs are like that: impossible to pin down, slow in revealing the layers of characters, plot, world, etc. And sometimes they all come in a rush, where you can't write down the ideas fast enough and you worry you'll forget them. And every time, I worry that one or the other makes the idea less valid. It doesn't, of course, but it's a thought that plagues me all the same. I worry that because this idea is so slow in coming, it's not worth it to write. I worry that when an idea comes all at once, it's not fleshed out enough, and thus not worth it to write.
Obviously, neither of those worries is truly the case. Maybe the idea isn't fleshed out enough, but simply because it came in a rush doesn't make it less valid. That's something I have to remind myself of fairly often. It doesn't matter how an idea comes to you. It only matters that you write it.
So, with all of that in mind, here is your Monday Music selection! This week's is called The Rose by The Hit House (which you may recognize from the Beauty and the Beast teaser trailer!).
Hope you enjoy!
